INTERNSHIP

The Internship Programs

Located in the breathtaking marine ecosystems of Palawan, the Organic Reef Rehabilitation Center (ORR) Internship Program offers a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about marine conservation, coral reef rehabilitation, and environmental responsibility. This program is designed to provide meaningful education, practical field exposure, and ethical conservation experience grounded in ecological sensitivity and long-term sustainability.

Set within one of the world’s most biologically significant marine regions, participants gain direct exposure to real reef environments while learning responsible approaches to coral reef assessment, rehabilitation, ecological monitoring, and conservation practices. Unlike programs focused on artificial or commercially driven interventions, the ORR Internship Program emphasizes organic reef rehabilitation — working with natural ecological processes rather than against them.

The internship pathway is structured into three categories to support different levels of experience and commitment:

Long-Term Internship (3–6 Months)

Designed for individuals pursuing a professional pathway in coral reef rehabilitation and marine conservation. Ideal for postgraduates and graduates of the Coral Biology Course seeking advanced field training, scientific monitoring experience, rehabilitation methodologies, and professional development in conservation ethics.

Short-Term Internship

Created for Coral Biology graduates and participants seeking hands-on field exposure and on-the-job training. This pathway bridges scientific knowledge with practical conservation applications and introduces participants to operational reef rehabilitation work in the field.

Citizen Scientist Internship

Open to passionate ocean advocates, students, and environmentally conscious individuals who wish to contribute meaningfully to coral reef conservation. Participants gain foundational scientific understanding, ethical conservation awareness, and experience in responsible environmental engagement.

Our Commitment

The ORR Internship Program is built upon the principles of:

  • Ethical intervention

  • Ecological sensitivity

  • Scientific responsibility

  • Accountability in conservation actions

  • Long-term sustainability over short-term recognition

We believe that true conservation requires humility, knowledge, and respect for the natural systems we seek to protect. Our work prioritizes responsible action, meaningful education, and ecological integrity without shortcuts, artificial solutions, or exploitative practices.

Through this program, participants do not simply volunteer; they become part of a growing movement dedicated to restoring coral reefs with integrity, purpose, and lasting impact for future generations.

At ORR, we believe that the ocean is the best university. A living classroom where knowledge is gained through direct experience, observation, responsibility, and humility. Our internship programs immerse participants in real-world marine conservation, allowing them to learn beyond textbooks by working alongside nature, understanding ecosystem dynamics, and developing practical skills that shape capable and responsible conservation leaders for the future.
